About this deal

The "Bird Guide" is considered one of the best field guides in the world with its detailed descriptions of around 1000 species in Sweden, the rest of Europe, North Africa and parts of the Middle East. This new edition builds on the strengths of the unrivalled original, covering over 200 species of bird found in Britain and Europe. The Advanced Bird Guide" enables birders to take this information into the field for the first time. The book is unique because for every species entry at least one image shows the bird in question, or the head and bill in the case of large species, depicted life size. If you’ve already got one or both of the earlier editions, then like me, the cover is probably falling off or has gone already!

Including 1,052 fully coloured photographs and 146 distribution maps showcasing all species and subspecies, it's safe to say this is an essential for the bookshelf. It has been described as "undoubtedly the finest field guide that has ever been produced", and "the last great bird book of the 20th century". While a field guide covering European birds is always going to sell with such a high birder density across the continent, its ability to reach beyond this market and present as a top-quality, accessible bird book is full credit to both the authors and the publishers. I appreciate what this guide tries to achieve, but it’s comprehensive approach makes it as a very complicated app to use which loses any sense of being intuitive. This is an excellent app, on the whole, but I have found a bug in the latest version - you can spend a lot of time recording your sightings in the list function, only to find that they have disappeared next time you open the app.Und nicht zuletzt wurden Artenportraits neu abgegrenzter Unterarten von Polarbirkenzeisig und Birkenzeisig aufgenommen. Also included is a foldout insert illustrating such topics as variations in plumage in flying birds of different species. Birds by Colour helps you to identify almost 200 bird species common to western Europe simply by their shape and colour. It was way back in 1999 that birders all over the UK were anxiously anticipating the arrival of the first edition of this revolutionary book, which was first published in Swedish before being translated.

The Collins Bird Guide App is an essential companion always to hand on your iPhone, and available to browse in full glory on your iPad. The app is based on the landmark book by Lars Svensson, Killian Mullarney and Dan Zetterström, universally acknowledged as the standard European field guide. iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone SE (3rd generation), iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad (5th Generation) Wi-Fi, iPad (5th Generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad (6th generation) Wi-Fi, iPad (6th generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad Pro, iPad Pro (Cellular), iPad Pro (9.Similar developments in the understanding of the status of the region's birds are also reflected – for example, the discovery of breeding Saunders's Tern in Egypt in 2012 sees this species now included in the third edition.

This brand new edition of the best-selling field guide from the RSPB is compact, informative and beautifully illustrated, and features 215 of the most common birds found in Britain. The same applies to another 'contemporary' vagrant, Elegant Tern, which too is elevated to the main accounts and afforded coverage of a range of plumages. Please note that there are currently no plans for a large-format version of the hardback as was done for previous editions.

The average size of each bird is included; in most species this is the length, measured from the tip of the bill to the tip of the tail, but in birds that are seen most frequently in flight (such as raptors), the given measurement is wingspan. The text for each species gives brief status notes, followed by a section detailing identification, and concludes with a section on voice. These gripes aside, there can be no doubt that the third edition of the Collins Bird Guide represents another significant step forward in terms of its coverage of the region's birds. inch (4th generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad Air (4th Generation) (Wi-Fi), iPad Air (4th Generation) (Wi-Fi + Cellular), iPad (8th generation) Wi-Fi, iPad (8th generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation), iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad Pro 12.This beautifully illustrated mini field guide is packed with information on the birds of Britain and the near Continent. A concise written account covering size, description, voice, habitat, distribution and habits appears on the same page.
